Bodegas Valdubón is one of the most respected wineries in Spain’s prestigious wine-producing region Ribera del Duero; their wines are known for their personality, vigour, and balance.
Located on the banks of the Duero river, Valdubón is named after the Valle de Ubón; a nearby valley.
The winery was founded in 1997 on lands that have been cultivated for more than 2000 years and today Valdubón manages 155 hectares of vineyard, of which 50% are self-owned, with vines of the tempranillo – known locally as Tinta del País -, merlot and cabernet sauvignon variety.
Valdubón’s winemaker Javier Aladro says his philosophy consists of knowing the vineyard in depth, stating that the care they take from pruning to supervision and maintenance of the vines, is evident in the obtained wine.
The wines of Valdubón find their best ally in the meticulous choice of oak barrels, which allow the wines to develop, perfect their structure and improve their aromas. He says that “Although the duration of aging can determine the final success of our wines, this is due first to the result of combining young wines from vines spoiled with affection and the invisible work of the best oaks.”
Valdubón wines are known for their personality, vigour, and balance. Through combining traditional and modern techniques Aladro creates wines that are powerfully elegant, bold, and finely structured.
The reds (roble), characterized by their cherry colour, reveal the impressive character of Tempranillo grown in Ribera del Duero with ripe red berry and cherry aromas together with smooth succulent vanillary black cherry flavours.
The award-winning white Valdubón Verdejo, a truly full-bodied Verdejo wine, displaying herbaceous, nutty character with balanced acidity with the finesse and aroma that is typical of Rueda.
You can visit Valdubón, walk the vineyards, try the wine, taste some traditional Spanish tapas.
